Over 9,000 attend IPEX South Asia 2009 The event at the very centre of the South Asia print industry.
IPEX SOUTH ASIA 2009, the international B2B exhibition for printing and associated industries, has generated an unprecedented response from high quality trade visitors, with over 9,000 attending the four day event in Mumbai from 24 – 27 October 2009.
The exhibition opened its door on Saturday 24 October and it was inaugurated in Mumbai jointly by P Narendra of Pragati Offset, Gautham Pai of Manipal Press and Khushru Patel of Jak Printers along with Ramu Ramanathan - Editor of PrintWeek India and Bhargav Mistry of Screen Printing Association of India. Nicky Mason, Managing Director, IIR Exhibitions, representing the IPEX South Asia team was also present on the occasion. The exhibition proved itself to be the region’s most important print event.Participation from key industry players
It provided an ideal platform for all concerned to share information not only with major international brands, but with major Indian brands as well. Some of the industry leaders that took part in the exhibition were — Canon, Xerox, HP, Kodak, HCL Infosystems/Konica Minolta, Efi, Shuttleworth Business Systems, Kern, Pitney Bowes, Epson, Gandinnovation, Apsom Infotech/Roland to name a few.Exhibitors at IPEX South Asia 2009 represented all aspects of the graphic arts process, including pre-press, press manufacture (including digital presses, newspaper presses), post-press, converting and packaging, consumables and used machinery.
Innovative products launched
New products that were launched for the first time in India include Canon with the imagePress 1135 which is driving the digital print volume of 150 millions pages per month, Konica Minolta with bizhub bizhub pro 1200 and C65HC, HP with the Indigo 7000, Xerox with iGen4 and Docucolour 7002 and Apsom showcased Roland DG.Indian companies also made important announcements, Welbound launched its PUR perfect binder, Line-O-Matic offered extended post-press solutions, The Printers House launched their folder - the Orient Xpress 122 and Megabound revealed the CB-310 semi automatic case maker for short run jobs.
Interest in digital printing and other allied verticals of the printing industry generated a commendable interest amongst the visitors and as a result the industry professionals thronged the show in very good numbers. The exhibitors sounded very buoyant after four busy days.
“IPEX South Asia is turning out to be a great show for us with the great quality of visitors that it attracts from the region. It has always been a great platform for us to share our new applications and products,” said Vipin Tuteja, Xerox India.
“We have launched three new machines and were able to sell all three of them. The idea was to generate awareness about our new offerings among the target audience”, expressed Mrs Shah from Hitech Systems
“We were able to generate close to 60 leads for our offerings here. Out of these we expect to close at least 15. Quality of visitors that the event attracted was good and matched with our target audience” informed HCL/ Infosystems.
“The target audience we were looking at was very much present here, and we were able to generate good business. We would like to see a bigger event in the future and would look to take a larger participation - Fumiteru Minami, Efi.
In addition, the Seminar Theatre was the arena of action for Xerox, Canon and Kodak, who seized the opportunity to provide tips to printing and digital professionals on how to maintain their edge. These sessions were presented by some of the industry’s brightest experts such as Dan Doron, Senior Vice President, XMPie, Pankaj Kalra, GM Marketing, Xerox India. Venkat Purushotham, President of Jyoshan Global Services and Ashish Merchant, Director Marketing Services Jyoshan-Kodak.
